It’s been almost a year since the horrific Charlie Hebdo attack and now Paris is facing not one but a string of terror attacks as of last night. Multiple shootings have taken place in the capital of France and reports are also surfacing of explosions at the State de France, where a football match between France and Germany was taking place.
France is now declaring a national state of emergency and closing all of its borders. It’s been reported that over 40 people died from multiple bomb and gun attacks in the city.
At the Bataclan concert hall, gunmen left at least 1oo people dead and were holding up to 60 people hostage. French media reports that police have stormed in to the scene and killed two attackers. Other attackers have been reported to die in what was claimed to be suicide blast attacks at restaurants in the city’s central area.
Residents of this city has been asked to stay indoors to keep safe, while military personnel are being sent across the city to keep watch.
The President of France, Francois Hollande called these horrific events “unprecedented terrorist attacks” and took to Twitter to say, “This is a horror. Faced with terror, this is a nation that knows how to defend itself, how to mobilize its forces and once again, knows how to overcome the terrorists.”
