Beware the “boyfriend log”!

Remember watching movies where the “good guys” would stick GPS trackers under the villians’ vehicles (read: “bad guys”)? Did anyone else think that it was a wonderful piece of technology or even wished hard for one of those thingamajigs? Especially during the times when you really wanted or needed to track a person down? Say, your boyfriend, fiancé, or husband?

We’re not sure why you would need to track your significant other down in that way but, now, there’s an Android app available in the market called, “Karelog” (Boyfriend Log). First released in Japan, it’s basically a piece of spyware that a possessive or jealous girlfriend can install onto her partner’s Android handset. It will then run in the background, almost going unnoticed.

Upon installing the “stalker”-ware, you will then be given an ID and password for the website login. Via the website, you will then be able to access almost everything that your unfortunate partner is doing, including his current whereabouts via GPS location, his call log, and even the kind of apps he has downloaded. The “Karelog” is free for 3 days after installation. After which, it would require you to sign up and pay a subscription fee of ¥525 a month (or ¥840 for 3 months or ¥1,980 for a year).

That’s right. You’d be spending up to RM76 per year on just “stalking”.

Uh. We find it just a little too creepy for our liking but hey, whatever floats your boat. Just remember that the app is available for all Android phones (2.2 and above) so don’t be surprised if it accidentally-on-purpose gets installed onto your handset (if you’re an Android phone user) one day too by your significant other.

We seriously do not condone this invasion of privacy but, for more information visit their website.
