One of the most interesting features of the iPhone X — apart from the beautiful edge-to-edge display — is the fact that it now comes with facial recognition software.
This new installment allows users to lock their phone (and keep it locked) using their own face as the passcode, which could be a problem with the masses. Now, millennials are worried that their loving partner will steal information from the new iPhone X while they’re asleep. #LOL
That’s not true though, because your eyes need to be open and looking at the phone for Face ID to work. Apple says the phone’s infrared camera will map about 30,000 dots onto your face to accurately identify it.
Still, several unscrupulous sellers online are tapping into the paranoia by marketing traditional full face masks as “iPhone X anti-identity theft” devices. Seriously.
A number of vendors on Taobao, the Chinese equivalent of eBay, are offering the headgear that they claim as “anti-facial recognition headgear”. The ski mask aims to stop the iPhone X from being unlocked without the owner’s consent.
Hah! Would you go the extra mile? I mean, your safety could be at risk here.. 😋
