As this is a meticulous process, learning the correct method of applying is key. So here are ways on how to prep your lips and application of lipstick like a complete professional!
Exfoliate
This is an important step in ensuring your lips are ready for kind of lipstick application. Exfoliating removes any flakiness on your lips. It also promotes blood circulation and adds smoothness to your skin.
Apply lip balm
Lip balm’s role is to keep your lips moisturized and prevent your lips from crevices. It will also help to give you an even application of lipstick. Prepping your skin (and lips) is the most important part to a makeup routine – your makeup will only wear as good as the skin underneath it.
Use a lip liner
Choose a color that matches your lips, not your lipstick. Draw an X shape on the edge of the upper lip with a lip pencil. Draw a lip line of upper lip, then draw the entire lip liner. If it is easier, begin by dotting it at various points along the outline of your lips. Then, drawing very lightly, use the liner to connect the dots.
Apply lipstick

Blot your lips
The purpose of blotting is to keep lipstick off your teeth and ensure your lipstick last longer on your lips. To blot, take a facial tissue and fold it in half. Hold it in two hands, with the fold facing you, then bring it between your lips and press your lips together gently. Release. To make lipstick last even longer, dust a little powder on the tissue before blotting.
