There will be moments when you want to enhance your eyes by wearing false eyelashes, whenever an occasion calls for it. While they’re great for batting your eyes, the art of perfecting it takes a lot of practice.
For example, newbies often find themselves applying too much glue and getting glue all over their eyelids (or worse, in their eyes). And even if ample or too much glue is applied, there are times when the false eyelashes come loose halfway through a night out or an event. Really, having to touch up is a hassle. Do you really want to carry eyelash glue wherever you go?
Also, if the eyelash is not removed carefully and the eyelid is not cleaned with eye-makeup remover after use, infection is possible. We’re talking about eye infections such as conjunctivitis and eye sties.
The alternative is to either learn to be extra careful when putting on and taking off false eyelashes or, find a really, really good mascara. And Maybelline New York claims that they have just the product for the latter!
Maybelline’s Volume Express “The Falsies” mascara promises to give you the effect of false eyelashes a.k.a falsies. What it does is that it helps fill in the gaps between your lashes with its patented “Spoon”-shaped brush. The brush helps to lift and separate lashes, fanning them out nicely.
Oh. And we love how the instruction for the proper usage of the brush is printed right on the tube!
It also says that the “Pro-Keratin and Fibre” enriched formula is designed to deliver immediate results, distributing volume (up to 8x more) and visible intensity to your lashes. Now that’s a lot of good, magical things to say about a tube of mascara!
The verdict? It’s pretty good for lengthening and thickening the lashes. But while it gives a full set of voluminous, fanned out lashes, women will need to learn to use it to its full potential starting with learning how to apply it fast. The formula tends to dry too quickly so you will have to work quickly to get as many coats as possible on. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a super “spidery” and clumpy mess.
That said, Maybelline’s Volume Express “The Falsies” mascara pairs up really well with the “natural look” and also the “smoky eyes” effect. It all depends on how quickly you work with your lashes – the more you apply the more incredibly dramatic the outcome. Also, and brownie points for this one if we might say, it doesn’t end up under your eyes after a long night.
