A 47-year-old man was detained after he was picked up at about 5am at his home in Jalan Klang Lama on Wednesday.
Shah Alam police said the man and two others are believed to be involved in the abduction of the 24-year-old American teacher. SAC Mohd Adnan said the victim has stopped a taxi near a shopping mall to return home at about 6pm on Monday. Several minutes later, the taxi driver stopped a few minutes into the journey and picked up a man. The driver then made another stop, this time with the excuse that the car had run out of gas.
Later, a van came by and the teacher was told to go into a van, which would supposedly take her home. However she was taken to a house where she was raped.
SAC Adnan refused to elaborate any further on the taxi driver, but has confirmed that the detained has a criminal records for robbery and tested positive for drugs.

A 25-year-old American woman boarded a taxi at The Curve Shopping Mall in Mutiara Damansara, was victim of a vicious robbery-cum-rape-case on Monday.
In the taxi, she noticed two men inside, one believed to be the driver and a passenger. They drove her to a secluded area in Sepang, where they robbed and raped her. After the assault, they took her to an undisclosed location in Sungai Pelek, Sepang and confined her.
She managed to escape on Tuesday night, and headed over to Sepang police headquarters to lodge a report.
The police however, arrested a man on Wednesday morning, based on the information provided by the victim. They identified the suspect, and nabbed him in Petaling Jaya yesterday.
