As the Angels and Victoria’s Secret models prepare for the 2017 show in Shanghai, numerous sites are reporting that Alessandra Ambrosio will be hanging up her wings and walking the VS catwalk for the final time this year.
If true, this is definitely a huge deal, as Alessandra has become an iconic model for the brand. She has walked in the VS Fashion Show for over a decade, and has broken records like wearing the heaviest wings the brand has ever created.
The 36-year-old Brazilian model was first tapped for the brand in 2000, and has worn two Fantasy Bras (2012 and 2014) for the brand in its history – the top honour for Angels – and has never missed a show during her tenure.
And despite working with other brands, there’s no doubt that her outstanding work with Victoria’s Secret was what made her become a fashion icon.
In 2015, Alessandra revealed she knew she wouldn’t continue to walk the show forever unlike her BFF Adriana Lima who told Vogue UK, “I will keep doing this as long as I can hold back nature. I never want to retire, so I’ll do this for as long as my body can hold out.”
“I feel the opposite of her!” Alessandra said in response to her fellow model’s desire to be an Angel forever. “I don’t want to go on forever. I know there comes a time that I’ll have to hang up my wings, and I’m OK with that. Everyone moves on eventually.”
Hmm.. could this be the year? Both Victoria’s Secret and Alessandra have yet to confirm the news, but we’ll be paying extra attention to her looks during the VS show on 28th Nov 2017. After all, if this is her final walk as an angel, it’s bound to be incredibly epic.
