Looks like that Pirelli Calendar is taking a new turn!
Victoria’s Secret angel, Adriana Lima is the first model to pose pregnant for the famous, Pirelli calendar In fact, this is the first time that Pirelli is choosing fully clothed women to go on their calendar.
For the 2013 Pirelli Calender, Steve McCurry shot 11 fully-clothed models, actresses and singers including Isabeli Fontana, Karlie Kloss, Petro Nemcova and ofcourse, Adriana Lima!
The 31-year-old Brazilian bombshell just gave birth to her second daughter, Sienna, late September. But before she gave birth, she did a shoot with famed American photojournalist Steve McCurry on the streets of Rio de Janiero in July. In the shoot Adrina is sporting a simple black crop top and a low-slung skirt. This is a lot more clothing that the usual models in the Pirelli Calendar.
So what were Steve McCurry’s thoughts “I would say I am a street photographer doing ‘found situations.’ You can photograph nudes anywhere. But these models are clothed, and each of them has her own charity. They are purposeful and idealistic people. So I wanted to photograph them in a special place, and Rio was perfect for this.”
So why did they choose these models and actresses even though not all of them are Brazilian? It’s because all of them are involved in either charitable or humanitarian work – which is something the calendar hopes to highlight.
