Residents of Taman Nesa, Sitiawan discovered an abandoned infant placed inside at a temple here about 7.30am yesterday morning.
“The basket was placed on a table in the temple,” said Mohd Shafarin Abd Samad, 22. He said a priest stumbled upon the baby before alerting others about the shocking find. The baby was fully-clothed and looked healthy.
A physical check was carried out on the infant and there’s no sign of injury and has been referred to Seri Manjung Hospital for further checks.
Manjung district police chief Assistant Commissioner Jaafar Baba, said police received a call from the priest who had gone to the temple for morning prayers. The police would also inform the Welfare Department to track down the parents.
