Would you like to see your selfie on a real-time mosaic of moving thread? If the answer is yes, then this is your chance! Forever 21 recently unveiled an innovative machine that can re-create your Instagram photos on a thread screen and it looks super cool.
According to Brooklyn agency, Breakfast, Forever 21 was looking to experiment with something different compared to what they’ve done in the past. Hence, the LA-based clothing company hired the agency to create an enormous thread screen made out of 6,400 mechanical spools of multicolored threaded fabric. The project was in the works for a year and a half, and now, the machine is ready.
Now through next Tuesday, the Thread Screen will be up and running every hour of everyday, rendering versions of Instagram photos with the hashtag #F21ThreadScreen while cameras stream it live on this website. The lucky users will also be sent auto-edited clips of their photos being re-created on the fabric.
