Malaysian fans of the popular private driver service, Uber, should be aware that its budget option, UberX, is now slightly more expensive. The company has risen its base fare up to RM2 from the original price of RM1.50, along with charging 35sen per minute or per kilometre for each ride. Now, the minimum fare must be at least RM3.50, which is RM1 higher than before. With that being said, Uber insists that its fare prices are still nearly 20% lower compared to normal street taxis.
Uber has also announced its new promotion which entitles anyone needing transport around the PJ area to three free rides worth up to RM20. Just enter the promo code “UBERINPJNOW”.
Make sure the location you are being picked up from or dropped off at includes the following areas: PJ Old Town, PJ New Town, SS1 to SS7, SEA Park, Taman Megah, Taman Universiti, Taman Bahagia, Taman Paramount, Kelana Jaya, Section 5 to Section 17, Damansara Jaya, Jalan Templer, Jalan Gasing, and Jalan Semangat.
