Here at Lipstiq’s Man of the Week, we have brought you plenty of good-looking and interesting men for you to read about and get to know. This week is no different: We introduce to you the very charming and witty, Ungku Shaen Ungku Melewa.
Name: Ungku Shaen Ungku Melewa
Occupation: Account Manager
Age: 25
Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you do, what do you like, etc.
Greetings readers, I’m sure by now you already know my name but you can call me Shaen – that’s pronounced “Shane” but my parents were feeling creative back in ‘89 so they gave me a funky name that’s in a way a gift and a curse as I’ve never met a person the first time that could ever pronounce my name right, it’s always “Sean” “Shee-an” and this one time in Starbucks the Barista even shouted out “Chan” can you believe how weird that was?
I founded, run and manage Post Script Kuala Lumpur or PSKL as our fans know us by. A company that started sometime around 2009 and we have grown currently to service majorly corporate clients in terms of their brand rebuild or brand repair. In summary, we’re a design studio and I’m the Account Manager. As for what I like – I like what I do cause I do it good – as well as the colour black, Alfa Romeo’s, fantasising about being James Bond and listening to Drake cause I’m emotional like that.
What are your guilty pleasures?
I’m ashamed to say that I have tons. I’m unsure if it’s attention seeking or something has gone wrong in my head, but there’s just something about doing things that I’m not supposed to that I just enjoy. A few low key examples would be my excessive consumption of Redbull as it gives me wings (Redbull holler at me – promo), Instagramming while driving, texting while driving and please don’t attempt this but dancing while driving. Pretty much everything my parents and woman tell me to stop. Don’t get me wrong I don’t disrespect them, its just fun! So a little disclaimer: Kids, do not attempt to copy the stunts mentioned in this article as they are conducted by professionals.
If you had to, which would you give up, food or sex?
I am going to say sex, as without food I will die. Life is the all time high and I don’t want to give that up. Yes, what I am saying contradicts my guilty pleasures but hey – the guilty pleasures are still a 50/50. You don’t eat, you just die – that’s for real.
What do you love most about your job?
I love meeting the clients for the first time, getting to know them, proposing to them possibilities or even ideas to realise their vision in a way that they have never even thought of, blowing them away with our artworks/concepts and just solving problems that at the time seems so impossible. Basically I’m a big fan of impressing and a big fan of getting my job done. As it goes in the song “Believe Me” by Lil Wayne and Drake – “ I’m the only one that get the job done, I don’t know a fella that could cover for me” (BOOM – Drake, promo – give me a call.)
Tell us something about yourself that not a lot of your friends know about.
I’m a masked vigilante who fights crime in the night. And I’m colourblind.
If there was a million ringgit at stake, would you rather sit in a room infested with cockroaches for 24 hours or sit in a box of snakes for 24 hours?
What is this Fear Factor or something? I find this question funny as it’s very relatable. I find it humorous when girls are squeamish and start dancing around when they spot a cockroach. So, I like to just delay a little before I destroy them. I still don’t get the fear as cockroaches are awesome! They can outstand a nuclear blast, so why aren’t we adoring them! Anyways, as for snakes – ironically I was born in the year of the snake but I have a huge fear of these magnificent animal. Probably has something to do with an incident when I came across one by accident but despite the fear, I still find them gorgeous and mesmerising. The way they move, how their scales are arranged and just the sheer engineering of how they are is amazing. Still doesn’t change the fact that I’m scared of them so I choose cockroaches for 24 hours! Just give me headphones and Drake and I’ll stay in that room like a king.
What is the first thing you notice about a girl?
Composition is what catches my eye and makes me look. Comprising of hair arrangement, figure, dressing and posture so in a way the overall image will make me look their way. Once I’m looking your way I’ll probably check out the hair. Good hair is important for Shaen.
What about a woman do you find to be the biggest turn off?
I don’t want to come off “douchey” but A LOT! I shall not go on to list down what turns me off but basically how I see things is that yes, looks and image is important – that’s a given and I think we should all accept that by now. What is lasting though is how the woman is, overall. Her etiquette, her manners, and the way she is can tell you a lot about her regime. I like a woman with a good regime, one that balances their work, duties, interests or whatever it is but still remain looking flawless from every inch. This reflects their regime in my opinion and a part of the regime is hygiene. Men are supposed to be the cavemen not the other way around so women, take note.
Where do you seen yourself in 5 years?
Done with my Bachelor in Architecture, Project Management Professional certification in the bag and doing my Master of Business Administration. Working in an International Constructions Services firm like ISG and PSKL is fully self sustainable, running on its own. I would like to see my baby grow and stand on its own two feet with me just looking over it. Lastly, should the plan be consistent in the next 5 years, I should be financially capable to settle down, comfortably.
Do you have a weird habit?
I have a few, yes. I come from a family of weird habits and I am not even joking, every single member of my family has a weird habit and apparently for me, I notice that I will pout my lips to the left and just nibble on the insides of my cheeks when I’m thinking. Don’t worry girls I don’t bite just nibble. Apparently also, according to my woman I rub my face up and down super rough when my nose is itchy or something. Like, super rough apparently that even her mum asked her about it.
