Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) amped up its environmental efforts with the introduction of a renewable energy pilot project at the WWF-Malaysia Earth Hour 2015 Night Walk event held at Sunway Pyramid on Saturday. Digi set up a pilot unit of an innovative solar-powered device charging station prototype for the convenience of the Night Walk participants.
The prototype charging station which was set up during the day for solar absorption is able to charge up to 16 mobile phones and 4 tablets at any single time, with safekeeping mode in combination padlocks. The solar powered station requires 5 hours of direct sunlight to be fully charged.
At the event, Digi also sponsored 200 customers to participate in the Earth Hour 2015 Night Walk in both Kuala Lumpur and Penang. The company also contributed RM35,000 to fund environmental conservation projects organised by WWF-Malaysia, as the corporate sponsor of Night Walk@Sunway. This is the 7th year running in which Digi participated in the Earth Hour celebration.
