Sorry, One Direction fans. We know this must be a real shocker, although I, myself was not all that surprised because I had my suspicions when he left the tour in the first place.
But it’s official, boys and girls. On March 25, Zayn Malik officially announced that he was leaving the very successful boy band One Direction.
At first it was said that Malik was taking some time off from the tour because of “stress” and then it was followed by rumours that he cheated on his fiancée Perrie Edwards from Little Mix. But then the truth finally came out and Malik explained his exit from the group:
“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band,” Malik wrote.
“I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart,” he said.
Take note that plenty of fans are disappointed and are expressing their disappointment on Twitter.
“I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
