The founding father of modern Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew has died at the age of 91. It’s been close to two months since he was hospitalised on February 5th for severe pneumonia at Singapore’s General Hospital.
A statement was issued on Monday, March 23 by the Singapore’s prime minister’s office (PMO) stating that Mr Lee passed away peacefully at 3.18am.
It’s been stated that there will be an announcement for a date where the public may pay their respects to him and funeral arrangements.
Singapore’s PMP has been giving the world daily updates on Lee’s condition since it took a turn for the worse because of an infection on Tuesday, March 17.
Lee’s survived by his sons, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, 63, and Lee Hsien Yang, 57, daughter Dr Lee Wei Ling, 60, daughters-in-law Ho Ching, 61, and Lee Suet-Fern, 56, seven grandchildren and two siblings. Lee’s wife, Kwa Geok Choo, passed away at the age of 89 in 2010.
