They say beauty is pain. However, is it really worth the discomfort?
In a powerful photo series, photographer Justin Bartels illustrates the marks our overly tight clothing leaves on our bodies, ultimately implying that they might not be worth it.
Entitled IMPRESSION, Bartel’s project is based on some observations of the women he dated in college. When they took their clothes off, he found that red marks and imprints remained.
“It interested me that so many women would wear binding or uncomfortable clothing to either impress or attract others, or for their own self-esteem,” he said.
It is indeed a sad truth that we tend to overlook.
