During her recent concert in Buffalo, Kelly Clarkson blessed her fans with a cover that was completely and utterly unexpected. The result: a phenomenal rendition of Taylor Swift’s hit ‘Shake It Off.’
“This is a church song, this is a soulful song,” said Clarkson jokingly to the crowd. “This is one of my favorite songs that’s out right now. And you think you know it … but you don’t.”
Before getting into the song, Clarkson made fun of herself saying that she couldn’t hear the correct key and eventually just proved herself wrong as she sang her way into a slow and jazzy style of the very upbeat song. It took the fans a while to realize what song it was that Clarkson was singing but when it clicked, they just erupted with cheers and applause.
Clarkson poked a little fun at herself before beginning the song, giggling and admitting that she couldn’t hear the correct key. Eventually, she laughed her way right into a soulful opening of the upbeat pop song, and it took fans a minute to realize what she was singing … but as soon as they did, they erupted with applause.
Even the original singer of the song, Taylor Swift was impressed and took time to tweet about her excitement:
Watching Kelly Clarkson SLAY “Shake It Off” is an excellent way to celebrate 26 HOURS TIL 1989!!!!!! #TS1989 http://t.co/StqJLKObGC

Very often song covers turn out to be very bland and not that impressive. But Kelly Clarkson has proved to us more than once that she is indeed the queen of covers.
