BB NY Fashion Week Spring '15 Trend Report-1_censored

Fashion week isn’t just all about clothes – makeup plays a huge component in conveying a look or trend and the runway serves as a guideline of what’s to come next season.

At the recent New York Fashion Week (Spring/Summer 2015), makeup authority Bobbi Brown and her elite team of makeup artists created numerous looks for 15 fashion shows. Here are three makeup and beauty trends you can recreate!

1. Glowing skin

One thing’s for sure, glowing skin never really goes out of style, as seen at Hellessy, Elie Tahari and Meskita.

Moisturise with Hydrating Face Cream followed by an illuminating base. Use a foundation brush to prime skin to achieve a lit-from-within glow. Next, apply corrector and concealer to eliminate under eye darkness. For a dewy finish, use fingers or foundation brush to apply the Calypso Coral Pot Rouge or cream blush on the apples of cheeks and up toward the hairline, followed by a down movement to soften the edges. Blend thoroughly, keeping the most product on the highest part of cheekbones. Finish off the look by patting Extra Soothing Balm on the high point of cheekbones and temple for a luminous, ethereal glow.

2. Soft, flushed cheeks

A refreshing take on the nude makeup trend featured a flush of colour with healthy-looking skin highlighted with pink pastel cheeks as seen at Misha Nonoo and Tibi.

This youthful look can easily be recreated after moisturising with an application of corrector and concealer to lighten any darkness under eyes. Next, use a foundation brush or spot-apply Skin Foundation Stick where needed to even out skin tone. Use a Sheer Powder Brush to apply Pink Retouching Powder on cheeks for a youthful soft pink flush. For those who wish to add a pop of colour, layer a bright blush shade like Pale Pink or Peony on the high points of your cheeks.

3. Metallic eyes

Shimmery metallic tones were spotted on the runway at Meskita, Veronica Beard, Karen Gallo, Daniel Silverstain and Harare. Bold golden eyes, graphic lines and smokey lids made eyes pop.

Take this gilded runway look to everyday with a cream shadow brush and layer on Long-Wear Copper Cream Shadow all over lower lid building the colour density from the lash line to the crease. Next, define eyes and apply black gel liner using an ultra-fine eyeliner brush from the outer corner all the way across the upper and lower lash lines. Turn black liner on its side and using smooth long strokes, draw a line from the inner corner across the upper lash line – the liner should get wider as you go across. To create the wing – continue the line on the upper lid so it goes up and out past the outer corner of eyes. The end of the wing should taper to a soft point. Finish the look with three coats of Smokey Eye Mascara and for a bolder, more runway look, layer a golden sparkle shadow on to of your cream shadow before applying eyeliner.

Have fun experimenting with these three looks! To end this post, here’s a bit of info-graphic trivia from Bobbi Brown’s New York Fashion Week experience:
