How many of you are half awake at work right now because of the Brazil – Croatia match this morning?!
For this year’s World Cup, Malaysian artist Red Hong Yi has marked the occasion by painting the portraits of three star players with a soccer ball.
“I think my painting skills are OK, but my soccer skills are questionable as you can see from the video,” wrote Hong Yi of her latest masterpiece which features Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Brazil’s Neymar and Argentina’s Lionel Messi.
The clip of her creation, like the artist’s earlier ones, has drawn the attention of many netizens expressing praise for her work.
“Who knew a soccer ball can create such art. You amaze me every time,” wrote Facebook user Elaine Young, while Charles Chan posted, “Amazing portrait Red! You are so talented. I love the bloopers too.”
Many fans also expressed that this piece is the best of Hong Yi’s work thus far.
The 28-year-old Sabah-born artist is popular for YouTube videos of her creating beautiful art pieces using everyday materials like basketballs, socks, bamboo sticks, chopsticks and food items.
Hong Yi’s breakthrough project came in January 2012 when she used a basketball dipped in red paint to create a portrait of former Chinese NBA star Yao Ming.
