Known as one of the world’s wealthiest countries per capita is none other than Singapore. Unfortunately, as its population ages, the nation’s economic growth is increasingly reliant on the work of more than 1 million low-wage foreign labourers.
These foreign workers come from countries with lower standards of living like China, India and Bangladesh to work longs hours in manufacturing and construction jobs that pay peanuts. Seriously, they get paid as little as $1.60 an hour and to make matters worse, these workers are are more often than not abused by their employers as Singapore extends few legal rights to its foreign workers.
In an effort to make things a little easier for these workers and to cheer them up, Coca-Cola partnered up with the Singapore Kindness Movement, a non-profit organisation to arrange a little surprised that involved the usage of drones!
Coca-Cola airlifted boxes of soda cans to over 2,5000 workers working on a large construction site. The gifts also included hand-written messages from Singaporeans thanking the workers building their cities!
