Look 1

Look 1: Shades – Prada, Loose tunic – Forever 21 , Bag – Was a gift, Ankle strap heels – Zara, Watch – Orient, Rings – Lovisa and Pandora

Name: Amanda Sura

Age: 26

Occupation: Features and lifestyle writer

Describe your personal style – I like to keep things simple yet memorable and I tend to dress according to my mood. I gravitate towards neutral colours but my all-time favourite three has to be: black, grey and teal.  To me, a statement piece; be it a dress or accessory is enough to look good and feel confident in /with. I’m currently into buttoned down collared tops, pocket tees, vintage watches, pointy cap toed heels and signature clutches.

Look 2: T-shirt – H&M, Jeans – Mango, Over sized clutch – From Bangkok, Flip flops – Cotton On

Your thoughts on the fashion scene in KL – I’m happy to say it’s growing and doing quite well. I’ve come across many fashionable people thanks to my job. #OOTDS on Instagram and Twitter have brought KL street style and fashionistas to another level and it’s a pleasure to see our local designers being taste makers in terms of fashion internationally. Local designers like Jonathan Liang, Cassey Gan and Khoon Hooi are great examples. I hope to see more local street wear brands pop up though!

Look 3: Shades – Aldo, Top – Mango, Jeans – Zara, Shoes – Converse, Ring – Lovisa

Your favourite places to shop –  I like going to Zara, Topshop, H&M, Uniqlo, Superdry, Mango, Dorothy Perkins, Muji, Cotton On, F.O.S, Sungei Wang, Forever21, Promod and Nichii for easy-to-wear pieces which I can mix and match. I also like going to markets (locally and overseas) for great bargains! You never know what hidden gems you’ll stumble upon. The cheapest pair of comfy flats I own costs RM5 (after conversion) from a night market I visited in Taiwan. Primark in London and T-Bar, Ally, Witchery, American Apparel, Valleygirl, Forever New and Dotti in Australia also tops my list but most importantly, when it comes to shopping for clothes or accessories, I always remember what my grandma likes to say: “It doesn’t have to be expensive to look good on you. Enjoy dressing up, you should never have to starve yourself just to buy a bag or dress.” Fashion is too fun to be a pain!
