TIME magazine has recently revealed their Top 10 Everything of 2013 lists, and we can’t help but share a particular list that demands your attention – the Top 10 Best Dressed list. With celebrities of all ages making the cut, you’ll probably nod in approval with author Allison Berry’s picks, including the reason behind her choices. She even includes Miley Cyrus, but don’t worry – it’s not the nude latex bikini she wore during the 2013 MTV VMAs!
10. Solange Knowles at the UN World Food Programme
Why: “A classic Michael Kors shirt and blazer give way to a burst of color, light and playfulness with cloud-patterned pants.”
Our verdict: Yes, yes and serious yes to Solange’s chic, modern and quirky take on a formal dinner function!
9. Channing Tatum at the Oscars 2013
Why: “His Gucci three-piece tuxedo is tailored perfectly, and the bow tie and lace-up shoes add classic finishing touches.”
Our verdict: We’re no professionals when it comes to suits, but the classic tailoring with the silk trimmings is seriously sexy!
8. Selena Gomez at the MTV VMA 2013
Why: “She looked sexy and decidedly grown-up without seeming sleazy”
Our verdict: Selena looks like she had just stepped out of an Agent Provocateur couture catalogue here. It’s a shame no one took notice of her stunning debut at the VMAs.
7. Mariah Carey at The Butler Premier
Why: “The pop songstress sported a series of elaborately designed slings along with her designer dresses to turn her injury into a sartorial statement.”
Our verdict: Bow down to Mimi because the starlet even made the effort to show-off perfectly manicured nails to go with her arm brace.
6. Miley Cyrus at Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars.
Why: “The glittery green dress with a daringly low back is just the right mix of youthfulness and sparkle for the pop star.”
Our verdict: Not sure if this was Miley’s only fashionable moment of 2013, but the girl knows how to turn heads with a simple glitter dress.
5. Kate Hudson at the Golden Globes 2013
Why: “The gold collar and neckline detailing perfectly highlight Hudson’s golden locks, and the deep keyhole cutout strikes the perfect balance between skin baring and modesty.”
Our verdict: Subtle, glamorous and flattering. This is how a black gown should always be done!
4. Jane Fonda at the Oscars 2013
Why: “The structured shoulders, the sequined waist detailing—all show that mature actresses need not resort to shapeless potato sacks when they’re on the red carpet.”
Our verdict: Lesson learned – to turn heads, stick to structured tailoring but amp it up with a bright, gorgeous colour.
3. Rihanna at the 2013 Grammy Awards
Why: “The crisscrossed bodice, sheer paneling and floaty train gave her a romantic air, a departure from her typically edgy persona.”
Our verdict: Rihanna is best known for her rough, edgy fashion picks, but we can’t help but say that she looks absolutely breath-taking in this ensemble. And can we take a moment to admire how amazing her hair looks?
2. Kate Middleton at the National Portrait Gallery
Why: “She looked radiant, comfortable and still entirely appropriate for the occasion, showing off her shape without overexposing it.”
Our verdict: Personally felt that she had better pregnancy fashion moments, but the baby blue dress was the perfect dress to help her stand out without having any controversy to follow.
1. Jennifer Lawrence at the Oscars 2013
Why: “The pale pink princess gown is fitted through the hips, giving her an ethereal mermaid look.”
Our verdict: Our BFF J-Law has the perfect figure for couture, don’t you think? This winning dress was made for a winner!
