If we were to be asked who dominated the modelling industry this year, it would undoubtedly be Cara Delevingne. The 21-year old Brit has been appearing everywhere on runways and magazines, and her name has been heard much more often compared to any other models this year.
Yet, on Monday at the 2013 British Fashion Awards, the Model Of The Year award went to Edie Campbell. Accepting the honour, the 23-year old gave an eccentric speech saying that if she had to thank one person, it would be her pony, Dolly.
Despite her lack of household name recognition, Edie has accomplished major strides and landed huge gigs this year. Besides walking 21 of the most prominent shows at Spring 2014 Fashion Week, she was featured in ad campaigns for Alexander McQueen, Lanvin, Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs and Burberry, and also in magazines like Vogue Germany, i-D and Numéro.
The supermodel is a keen horse rider and once won the Celebrity Ladies Race at Glorious Goodwood. She’s also more of a brainbox than a party girl, holding a first-class degree in History of Art, in which she managed to study for while juggling her busy schedule as a model. We can’t wait to see more of Edie next year!
