Who is Malaysia’s most influential online personality? Newly launched online reality show ‘The Influencer’ aims to find out! Created by PersonEdge Sdn Bhd, a partner of online powerhouse Lowyat MSC, and in collaboration with Nokia Malaysia, this online reality show will feature ten online Malaysian personalities battling out to win the title of ‘The Influencer’.
Local online personalities from different industries are taking part in this show, from fashion, beauty, food, to the dance and technology field. The contestants are:
1. Cheeserland
The winner of Nuffnang Asia Pacific Best Fashion Blog Award 2011 as well as NHK Tokyo Kawaii TV (And Kawaii of The World) representative for Asia and appearing on NHK Japan. She is also an official international blogger for top Japanese fashion corporates like Runway Channel, UltraBlogger.com, and brands like EMODA.
2. Vernon Chan
Vernonchan.com talks tech, gadgets, Apple, cars, motorsports and lifestyle. His blog is visited more frequently by users who are in the age range 25 – 45, are very tech oriented, factual and college educated.
3. Ben Ashaari
His blog is visited by young adults from 20-40 as he writes about a diverse range of topics. Regarded as a local male celebrity blogger. Traffic from all over Malaysia including Terengganu.
4. Kelly Chin
Kelly is cheerful, outgoing and happy go lucky blogger. Her blog is visited more frequently by female who are in the age range 18-30, who focuses on female related stories such as beauty and fashion.
5. Rebecca Saw
Rebecca is the founder of Rouge Communications. Her blog is visited more frequently by both sexes, interested in food, travel, and tech oriented.
6. Ami Schaheera
Ami is an engineer turned Fashion Journalist/Stylist. Her blog is mostly visited by Malay female at the age group of 20-30.
7. Karen Kho
Karen is a nobody who trying to be somebody. She is not the best but always ready for whatever the world throws at her. Her blog is mostly visited by both sexes at the age of 20- 30
8. Jacklyn Gan
Jacklyn recently just gave birth to a baby boy, and her writing is heavily influenced by her outgoing lifestyle.
9. Ah Bok
Ah Bok is a person who loves to eat, share good food every where, loves photography and share all the lovely place if do travel around. His blog readerships are mostly from the age of 20-30 who are looking for good food to dine.
10. Chriz Ooi
Founder and leader of dance team “Elecoldxhot aka ECX”, Chriz is a full time dancer & choreographer. Considered a guru and celebrity in the dance scene, he is actively leading the younger generation to the latest dance moves
All ten contestants will be using the Nokia Lumia 1520 in six different challenges that they will have to go through, which will also include experiencing and testing the phone’s various functions. The challenges will cover the topics of technology, beauty, food, fitness, fashion and travel.
“Contestants will be trained to be an all-rounded online personality as most of them are too comfortable with their own platform. Thus, this competition allows them to discover their hidden talents beyond their comfort zone, in both online and offline platforms, which will build the credibility and importance of online personalities in Malaysia,” said Choo Mei Sze, co-founder of PersonEdge Sdn Bhd.
The Influencer will be streamed online on Lowyat.TV/TheInfluencer starting from Friday, December 6th 2013 and new episodes will be released every Friday.
