A CCTV footage of a girl fighting back against a thief has recently garnered a lot of attention among Malaysians.
The viral video shows two men on a motorbike circling a girl’s house. As she drives her car into her compound, one of the men sneaks into her compound just before the auto-gate closes. When the victim gets out of her car, the guy approaches her and snatches her purse.
But instead of letting her purse go, she pulls it back and just as he was about to escape, she immediately tackles him in a blink of an eye. After some kicking and shoving, the thief eventually falls down. The girl then nails the thief on the ground, and starts beating him with her bare hands.
Sadly, despite the girl’s gutsy urge to protect herself and her belongings, Malaysians can’t help but question the video’s authenticity. We’re not saying that a petite girl isn’t capable of such body strength, but you’d expect anyone with any experience robbing would still be able to overpower anyone half his size.
Furthermore, the clip where the woman beats the man while he’s nailed to the ground takes place behind a large black object that was probably intentionally set over there to block the view. The video quality also seems extremely clear for what is only just a CCTV footage.
But whether or not this video is fake, the fact that a woman is willing to fight back in a moment of crisis should inspire women to do the same. However, if the thief has a weapon with him, you should just surrender your belongings and not provoke him into harming you. If you don’t know any self-defense techniques, you can protect yourself with these safety tips.
