Just weeks after Somalian al-Shabab terrorists hijacked a shopping mall in Kenya, suspected Islamic extremists shot dozens of students in their sleep in a Nigerian college.

According to sources, the suspects attacked an agricultural college in the dead of the night, gunning dozens of students asleep in their dormitories, and torching classrooms.

The attack is being blamed on the Boko Haram extremist group. Approximately 50 students – aged between 18 and 22 – were killed in the assault. Soldiers managed to recover 42 bodies and transported 18 wounded students to a hospital nearby.

Adamu Usman, a survivor, said that almost all those killed were Muslims.

The Boko Haram aims to impose Islamic law across Nigeria, and is said to have fighters who have trained with the al-Shabab in Somalia. The Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau addressed in a video that his group wants to end democracy in Nigera, and only allow education in Islamic schools.

Our hearts go out to the innocent lives lost in Nigeria’s war against the extremists.
