US-born Miss Phillipines, Megan Young took home the coveted 2013 Miss World crown in Bali yesterday!
The 23-year-old, who wore a beauty pink gown, wept as the Miss World sash was put over her shoulder 2012 winner, Miss China.
After beating Miss France and Miss Ghana, the Young vowed and pledged to be “the best Miss World ever”. She also said she would “be myself in everything I do, to share what I know and how to educate people.
Miss France, Marine Lorpheline came second place, while Miss Ghana’s Carranzar Nar Okailey Shooter, took third place.
It’s so good to see diversity in the top three!
Meanwhile, security at the pageant venue was guarded by heavily armed police with water cannon while some 1,000 FPI members held a prayer session at a mosque outside Jakarta.
