You’ve seen those tie-front tops in the store and you’re not at fault when you gasp for air when you realize how expensive it can be. Today, we’re going to teach you how to make one of your own by re-using an old t-shirt lying in your closet!

Channel this sporty look with just an old t-shirt, a ruler and a pair of scissors. Once you realise how easy this tutorial is, you’re going to end up turning all your t-shirts into the same thing!

What you need:
Old t-shirt
Scissors
Ruler
Sharpie

Instructions:

1.Lay your shirt flat so that the side faces you, and the front and back centers meet at the sides.

2. Depending on how much you’re comfortable baring, decide on the length you want the top to end. Then, cut off the back of the shirt, leaving about 5 inches in the front.

3. Now that the back portion is settled, you need to make a slit in the center so you can tie up the two remaining bits of fabric. Cut out a tiny vertical strip about an inch higher than the first cut you’ve made.

4. When that’s complete, soften the look of your t-shirt by snipping off seams at the collar. This is so you have the freedom to make it an off-shoulder t-shirt. We’ve also chosen to cut the seams at the sleeves too for a softer touch.

And you’re done!
