For working women with a busy back-to-back schedule, finding the time to dress well and look immaculate seems impossible. So should your overall appearance take a step back when you’re concentrating on finishing your work? No, it shouldn’t!

We’ve gathered a few fashion and beauty tips from people in the Lipstiq.com office who are used to running from meetings to events on a daily basis – so keep these in mind and use these tips to look good while you’re climbing up your career ladder!

1. Keep in your bag: Travel/sample sized cosmetic products

This can be an absolute life-saver! Get travel or sample sizes of your basic cosmetic products: eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick or tinted lipbalm, perfume, powder, and put them in a chic cosmetic pouch. You never know when you need to touch up, especially when you’re running from one meeting to another.

What’s in our pouch: Travel sized hand lotion, Urban Decay eyeshadow and mini sized Fresh Sugar Berry lip balm available at Sephora Malaysia, Elie Saab perfume sample, M.A.C lipstick.

2. Accessorize!

Colourful accessories can make a formal office suit look more fashionable. Store a few accessories in a small bag that you can stash in your office drawer; it’ll give your outfit an added ‘oomph!’ when you get last-minute dinner invitations, or when you realize that the only accessory you bothered to wear in the morning was your watch!

3. Always have a variety of shoes in the office or car

If the office is the place you spend most of the time at (except for home), make sure you have a few types of shoes there, too. Four basic ones would be stylish flats, formal black heels, a pair of nude heels, and one eye-catching pair. Place them in a box underneath your table. This way, you can use more comfortable footwear on your way to office and then change to more suitable shoes when you have meetings or events.

4. Stock up on: Dry shampoo and must-have cosmetics to easily change your day & nighttime looks

You’ve got your cosmetic pouch for light touch ups, but here are must-have beauty products for your office:

Dry shampoo: Thanks to Malaysia’s humid weather, our hair will start looking greasy or limp by 6pm. Dry shampoo (you can get them at Sephora Malaysia outlets) will boost your hair volume and leaves a nice, clean smell. It’s like washing your hair without needing water!

Make-up and make-up remover: Make-up wipes are practical to have in your office drawer, so you can easily change a subtle daytime look to a more dramatic night time look for parties or impromptu night outs.

Perfume: Whether it’s a Lady Gaga perfume or a Skinfood body mist, always have your favourite fragrance in your office! No one likes to hang out with someone who smells of sweat.

5. Braid your hair to get waves

Wanna ‘spice up’ your hairstyle a bit? Just braid your hair before leaving the office, spray dry shampoo or a bit of hairspray on it, and hop in your car or the taxi. By the time you reach your destination, just release your braid and you’ll have soft waves in your hair.

6. Multi-purpose accessory: Colourful scarf

Get a colourful or a floral scarf. It can be used in different ways to style your outfits or act as an accessory. Tie it to the handle of your handbag, use it around your neck to get a Hamptons summer look, or use it as a head scarf  a la Jackie O.

7. Buy a blazer that complements your outfits

Take a look at your dresses or tops, and get a blazer that will complement them. If your clothes are most in dark or neutral tones, get a bright coloured blazer. If your daily outfits are colourful enough, you should invest in a basic black blazer to give a more formal impression when it’s necessary. Leave the blazer hung over your office chair or car seat so you can easily grab it during emergency situations. (The blazer above is available at H&M Malaysia outlets)
