Lights and music brought Sunday night to a spectacular close at the internationally acclaimed Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) held at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong, Kuching from June 28 to 30. A sell-out crowd packed the huge festival site, dancing and singing along to the top music acts from across Asia, Europe, the Americas and beyond.

The energetic crowd replied with passionate dancing and amazing energy that completely transformed the ethos of the festival, no matter what style of music was being played on stage.

“At this year’s Rainforest World Music Festival, we delivered a weekend full of unique Heineken moments that people can take back to the city,” said Ms. Jessie Chuah, Marketing Manager of Heineken Malaysia.

There were countless highlights of RWMF this year, like Palsandae’s energetic acrobatic and dance performance woven with shamanic prayer songs or getting everyone to their dance feet with Rey Vallenato Beto Jamaica’s fiesta dance music from Colombia. Or, Sunday headliners Habadekuk, with their Danish take on American bluegrass, adding some extra thump to their sound.

Saturday’s headliners, Pine Leaf Boys really blew the energy levels sky-high at an already charged Heineken partners RWMF.

“You don’t have to sell your soul to get into the Billboard charts; we were there a couple of weeks ago,”commented Wilson Savoy whom just won a Grammy this year, when asked if traditional artists needed to meet the pop market head on to be successful.

The unique nature of  RWMF was reflected in Heineken’s continuing commitment to keeping it green. To ensure that the rainforest and the Sarawak Cultural Village was left in pristine state, Heineken recycling bins were placed around the festival site, encouraging recycling and sustainability.
