According to Natural Resource and Environment Minister Datuk Seri G. Palanivel, schools in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur may continue to close tomorrow.

However, he said the schools must receive the directive from the Education Ministry to this effect.

“I’ll discuss and ask about it (possible closure) with the Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh,” he told reporters after the swearing-in ceremony of members of parliament for the 13th Parliament at the Dewan Rakyat here today. (Source)

This is due to the worsening haze condition in the Klang Valley, and it shows no signs of significant improvement. Malaysians are required to stay indoors as often as possible and to wear a mask when required to step outdoors. The API (Air Pollutant Index) readings in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor has already reached alarming “unhealthy rates”.
