If you step inside a cosmetics counter, you might be wondering what all these BB and CC creams stand for, and why do they use these abbreviations instead of using its actual name. Soon enough, we’ll see DD creams on their way.

We first heard about the BB Cream formula sometime in 2009/2010. But once the new CC cream launched in the market, many of us are still confused and wondering what the difference and benefits are between these two creams

Here’s a simple guide to help you differentiate between the BB cream and CC cream.

BB Cream
The “BB” in BB Cream stands for beauty or blemish balm, and it’s one of Asia’s super products for the last few years when it started in Korea. The BB cream provides coverage with additional skin care benefits like SPF protection. If you want to compare the texture to a foundation, it’s lighter than foundation but heavier than tinted moisturizers. BB creams comes with multiple benefits for our skin such moisturizing, priming, and block harmful UV rays, while regenerating the skin cells too.

CC Cream
While we still can’t get enough of the BB Cream,  the “CC Cream”  casually walks in the beauty world making itself the new star of the show.  CC stands for colour correct or colour care, so CC cream has all the benefits of the ordinary BB cream but it focuses more on correcting complexion issues and to even out your skin tone. It’s great for those of you who suffer from redness, pigmentation, dark spots or uneven skin texture.

DD creams combines tinted moisturizers and standard foundation for skin perfection. However, a lot of women, especially medium to darker skinned women find it hard to find the right BB or CC Cream because it may not suit your skin tone. Some formulas completely makes your skin look cakey or a tad blotchy, which as we all know is unattractive.

There are numerous formulas that come in various tones, so you might want to try them out first before making the purchase.
