Subsequent to the Health Ministry’s announcement that they’ve suspended numerous tapioca starch ball manufacturers, Chatime has released a statement to ensure customers that their tapioca starch balls boba pearls do not contain Maleic Acid, and is safe to consumed.
The statement says:
“Following an existing stringent health and safety procedures which complies with the international food safety regulations, our food products have been tested by SGS – the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification specialist. The result has certified and verified that the tapioca starch balls used in our food products does not contain Maleic Acid, therefore is completely safe to be consumed. We do not condone the usage of Maleic Acid in any food or beverage and would like to assure our customers that the overall quality of our products is our number one priority.”
We’ve also been staying away from bubble tea these past few days, so we think it’s time to go out and grab a cup or two!
