It’s bad news for Angelina Jolie.
Just after the actress made her announcement about her double mastectomy to reduce her chances of breast cancer, her aunt Debbie Martin died at age 61 of breast cancer in California.
Debbie Martin was the younger sister with Jolie’s mom, Marcheline, who suffered from ovarian cancer and died in year 2007. Martin had the same defective BRCA1 gene that Jolie does.
This story has spurred a huge discussion of pre-emptive surgery and genetic tests. Jolie has yet to make any further announcements about her aunt’s passing, but we’ll keep you guys updated!
