Justin Bieber grabbed the first ever Milestone Award persented by Chevrolet at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, announced by CeeLo Green. Justin Bieber is the first artist to have five #1 hits on the Billboard 200, and he’s not even 20 years old.
After Bieber took hold of his trophy, there were boos from the audience. He was stunned for quite a while and then started his impromptu acceptance speech: “I’m 19 years old… I’m 19 years old,”.
With his right hand on his heart, he said: “I think I’m doing a pretty good job.”
Bieber’s speech sounded defensive and hurried but not without talking points:
“And basically, from my heart I really just want to say, it should really be about the music. It should be about the craft that I’m making, and… this is not a gimmick, this is not a gimmick. I’m an artist, and I should be taken seriously. All this other bull should not be spoken of.”
He then rattled off a laundry list of thank yous, and scurried offstage. (Source)
