Hair treatments can cost a dime and a dozen, and it’s only truly effective if you get your mane treated every few weeks. However, you don’t have to deprive yourself of great hair treatments, because the best ones come from the stuff you have lying around in your kitchen. We’ve devised a couple of homemade hair treatments specifically devised to suit your hair type, and it won’t even cost you RM10! So, find what you need for your hair type, run to the kitchen and get ready to say hello to gorgeous and lustrous hair!

Fine and Limp Hair
Combine half a cup of flat better with one teaspoon of oil and raw egg. Apply it on clean, damp hair and let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with cool water. Alternatively, you can also carry a flat beer hair spray in your bag.

Frizzy Hair
Mash half an avocado and massage into the hair (remember to avoid the scalp). Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse with cool water. You can also add in other moisturizing ingredients like egg yolk, yogurt or mayonnaise to double up to moisturizing power.

Greasy Hair
Corn meal and corn starch are probably your best bet to help absorb excess oil from your scalp since they do in fact have oil absorbing properties. Simply pour one tablespoon of cornmeal or cornstarch into an empty salt or pepper shaker and spindle onto dry hair and scalp. After 10 minutes, use a paddle brush to brush it out.

Dull Hair
Massage half a cup of sour cream or plain yogurt into damp hair and let it sit for 20 minutes. Rinse it with warm water, followed by cool water, then cleanse your hair as you normally would. Repeat this treatment every week for effective results. The fat content in milk will help moisturize your hair follicles, which in return, gives your hair more shine.

Dry, Damaged Hair
Massage half a cup of honey into clean, damp hair and let it sit for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water. You can also incorporate a teaspoon or two of olive oil to make the application easier. If your hair is extremely damaged, you can mix the honey with egg yolk to replenish the keratin in your hair.

Itchy Scalp
Combine two tablespoons of lemon juice, two tablespoons of olive oil and two tablespoons of water and massage it into damp scalp. Let it sit in for 20 minutes and then shampoo hair.
