Shorts are usually worn for ‘casual’ looks – whether out to the beach, or to the market. But it is possible to make shorts work for an elegant look. Here are a few ways to make a pair of shorts look smart!

blazers

1. Pair it with a blazer
The best way to make a pair of shorts look smart and classy is to pair it up with a nice blazer. Of course, you can go for the normal plain black blazers, but if you’re looking to be a little more fun-loving, then why not pair it up with a coloured blazer! This will definitely spice up your look.

2. Accessories
Get those accessories pilling. Wearing the right accessories with the right outfit will instantly make you look more sharp and elegant. If you’re wearing shorts, wear accessories that are clean up and simple. Try not to layer too much either.

3. Plain shorts
If you’re putting on a pair of shorts – make sure it’s a plain coloured one. It’s hard to make floral shorts or laced shorts look more formal and smart. To be safe, keep it plain and simple, that way you can pair it up with whatever you like.

4. Wear heels
Heels will instantly make a woman’s legs look longer – and in the case of wearing shorts – that’s exactly what you need. You can either wear stilettos or wedges – but try to make sure the heels are in a nude or plain colour, so that you’re look is more complete and on the smart side.

5. Monochrome
Black and white is the way to go. If you want to look chic and smart without having to stare into your closet for too long – then always go with a monochrome choice.

6. Make it the right length
Wearing shorts can either go good, or go bad. It all depends on the length of the shorts. If you’re shorts are too short, you can forget about looking smart.

7. Do something with your hair
If you’re planning to look smart in shorts – be sure that your hair is done up right too. Either put it up in a tight pony tail or bun, to give yourself that sophisticated look. If you’re not a fan of putting your hair up, then make sure you blow dry your hair right so that it doesn’t look like it’s in a world of its own.

8. Add a belt
Adding a belt to your shorts will make the shorts look more structured. This will make you look more put together and clean up. If you want to look done up, go with a black or dark brown belt.
