Can’t seem to face that you have a little problem with overspending? You probably keep telling yourself that what you’re doing is completely normal, but is it really? It may be time to cut up those credit cards if you’re positive for the signs below!
1. Your credit cards are maxed out
If you’re got one credit card maxed out, you know there’s a slight problem. When you you’ve got two or more credit cards maxed out… then that’s a serious issue you’re dealing with.
2. You can only afford to pay the minimum on your credit card
When you credit card bill comes out – do you just pay the minimun amount, or do you take on the whole fee? If you’re taking on the minimum, you’re either hoping to ‘save’ as much as you can, or you just can’t pay it off.
3. You’re in debt
There is nothing good about being in debt. You should either just spend what you have, or spend what you can afford – if you’re aiming for the stars and buying things you can’t affording, you’re debt is going to go deeper as the time passes. Next thing you know, you’ll be spending the rest of your life paying off that debt (in fact, who knows if you’ll actually be able to pay it off in time).
4. You have to go shopping every week at least once
Every week you have to pass by stores or you’ll feel unhappy? Yeah, you’ve got a problem there already. If you’re the type of person who just has to purchase one thing each time you walk into a store, then you are definitely spending for all the wrong reasons. The question remains, do you need it or do you want it?
5. Asking family/friends for money constantly at the end of each month
At the end of each month, you’ve maxed out all your credit cards and you’re salary is all busted on those goodies you’ve been buying. Now, it’s time to ask the parents or even friends for some extra cash – you know you’ve sucken low once you’ve reached this level. This is the part where you tell yourself you shouldn’t have spent all that money.
6. Credit card debt is higher than your monthly income
If you’re spending on things that are above your monthly income, then you know you’re overspending.
7. The clothes in your closet still have the tags on them
When you open your closet, do you see dresses and tops with the tags still on them? That means you went on a little compulsive shopping for something you really didn’t need because well… you haven’t worn it yet!
8. You shop based on emotions
The moment you’re feeling sad, you head to the mall and start shopping? Is that right? The moment you buy something, whether a top or a dress or even jewelry, you instantly feel better… Right? Even when you know you can’t afford to, you still do it. That means you have a little problem with saving and are shopping on impulse, which is a big no-no!
9. You tell yourself you’ll stop spending next month
The moment you grab those pair of beautiful shoes – you tell yourself, ‘Next month, i’m not spending on anything’… That already shows that you know you have a problem, but you just pretend to ignore it.
10. You always push the deadlines of all your payments
Which is important, those shoes or the bills? If you’re choosing a pair of Jimmy Choo’s over the actualy bills you have to pay, then good luck. Pushing the deadlines for your bills will only make the sum bigger. And saying you’ll pay ‘half now, half later’, well, that’s not going to work either way.
