With more than 70 shows and close to 200 hours of sheer entertainment, 8TV & ntv7 were the Top 2 most watched Chinese channels during the Chinese New Year Festivities, garnering 50% viewership. Even more exciting, 8TV & ntv7 have dominated 42 out of the top 50 Chinese New Year Programme spots this year, out of which all top 20 spots were awarded to the two stations – with 8TV sweeping 14 spots and 6 directed to ntv7.
Seeing that the gift of “giving” is an important element in the Chinese New Year celebrations, Media Prima Television Networks had carefully and precisely planned out how to treat it’s viewers to a lavish line up of Chinese New Year programs.
Testified by its sky high ratings and its wide array of entertainment, Malaysia’s hippest TV station, 8TV has set new standards and reached new milestones as it acclaimed yet again the number one spot for viewership during this year’s Lunar New Year celebration.
Malaysia’s Feel Good Channel ntv7 is off to a strong start for year 2013 with the success of its 3rd Chinese New Year telemovie – Lucky Bowl Part 1 & 2. The show which aired on the 1st and 2nd day of the grand celebration garnered an impressive total of 800,000 viewers for both days. Over 33% Chinese viewers in Malaysia tuned in to Lucky Bowl Part 1 with a total of 450,000 viewers, making it the No. 1 movie on the 1st day of Lunar New Year. Meanwhile, Part 2 of the telemovie on the following day hit a total of 350,000 viewers. Other Chinese New Year offerings by the Home of Feel Good including Food Galore 2013, Aunty Must Go Crazy CNY Special, and Celebrity Prank Show also managed to pull in strong audience share.
Fixed on securing an even bigger audience share this New Year, 8TV promises an array of new and exciting shows. The station will continue its efforts to retain its title as Malaysia’s No. 1 Channel of choice for the urban youth and the Chinese audience.
