Top 8 Must-See Places in Malaysia

We’re summing up the best places to visit in Malaysia! From historical landmarks to beautiful beaches – there is just so much to do in Malaysia. After all, Malaysia truly asia right?

1. Kuala Lumpur
How could any come to Malaysia and not stop by the capital of the county? Sure, Kuala Lumpur is your typical busy city – but putting all that aside, it also holds some of the most iconic destinations in the world. The most promenant of them all is the Petronas Twin Towers. Besides that, you call also visit Batu Caves – a historic indian temple, the Menara KL Tower, Chinatown – filled with shopping goodness, and you can even hit a few fun parks like the KL Bird Park and the aquarium beside KLCC!

2. Penang
Penang is known for so many things. The food, the heritage sites, and even the huge mixture of culture. Being a small island, there are several fun and educational things to do in Penang. You can visit the different chinese temples, the indian temples and even a couple of historical mosques too. Beside that, you can have a dose of all kinds of food from the different cultures that revolve around Penang. You can get your usual Malay nasi kandar, your famous Chinese Char Koey Teow or even a good dose of Indian Banana Leaf.
We would suggest you head straight to the center of the island, George Town. That is where you can find anything and everything you crave.

3. Cameron Highlands
Think Malaysia is all hot and humid? Well, if your looking for a chilly vacation – head on over to Cameron Highlands. You can visit tea plantations along with other fresh vegetable plantations too. So, if your looking for a nice afternoon to sip tea, eat fresh scones and enjoy some chilly weather – this is one place you must visit.

4. Pulau Redang
Who doesn’t love a little beach time? Located on the east coast of Malaysia, Pulau Redang is known to be one of the best places for snorkeling, scuba diving and it is also a great place to watch the sunset. A lot of people visit Pulau Redang to photograph the live corals and just the environment in general. You will also get to witness turtles laying eggs at sea.. if you’re lucky.

5. Melaka
This is a  city that is filled with history. Up until today, Melaka holds ancient architectures and cultures that were inherited from the Portuguese, Dutch and Spanish. When you come to Melaka, you’re bound to learn about the local nyonya culture too. It’s best to head to this city on a weekend, that’s when ‘Jonker Street’ fills up with a beautiful night market that sells anything and everything – including vintage goods! In Melaka, there’s no real need for transport either – everything can be reached by food.


6. Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Sabah is filled with so much wildlife and pure heritage – it should never be missed out on places to visit. If you’re looking to have a more adventurous trip – then you might want to consider climbing Mt. Kinabalu wich is the 20th most prominent mountain in the world. But that’s not the only thing you can find in Sabah. Kota Kinabalu is an island on it’s own – so if you’re hoping for a nice relaxing time at the beach – you’re in the right place. You can even go island hoping if you wish to.

7. Langkawi
Another island that is a must-visit! There are all sorts of activities available in Langkawi – from water sports to extreme sports like go-karting. You can also visit the Eagle Square – it ia one of the most popular sites on the island. This is a place to visit if you’re looking to sit back and relax.

8. Genting Highland
You know the saying, ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’? Well, in what happens in Genting, stays in Genting! It is found on top of a mountain that is over 5,000 ft. from sea level and it is the one-stop entertainment zone. You will find theme parks, hotels and also, the only casino is Malaysia. So, if you’re looking for a night to enjoy – Genting Highland is the place to be.
