This represents a great opportunity for a cute date, or a fun fiesta with your family.
Burgers are a common comfort food for Malaysians. Be it in restaurants, bars or even the roadsides, burgers always find their way to our hearts. But let’s face it – sometimes, dining at restaurants or eating by the roadside aren’t ideal, especially if you want a special or relaxing experience. And in KL, there’s absolutely NO WAY to have a peaceful, dine-in session (except in expensive areas perhaps).
But guess what? There is one good option available.
Introducing Picnic at Momo’s! Now we’ve been to Momo’s before to try out their ‘Mo’ Feast, Mo’ Fun’ Ramadan promo. So, it’s safe to say that this hotspot serves good burgers that will give you an American vibe. This time around, instead of giving customers their regular American flavour with their amazing interior, Momo’s is back with a change of scene.
Taking over the first floor of Kuala Lumpur’s first social hotel – MoMo’s Kuala Lumpur – the rooms have been transformed into a bright, light and airy space emulating an al fresco excursion. There is floor seating (for the novelty) and teepee tents for that picture-perfect photo moment. Couples and small families alike may book this family-friendly, in-room dining and celebration experience for a private and unique escapade.
My reaction to the reinvented room was ‘awww so cute!’. I really loved how cozy and cute the room looked. Not just that, the set up is a perfect spot to snap cool pics for your gram. To make it more than just a regular picnic, guests get to play their own Spotify playlists via their personal devices on either the interactive televisions in the guest rooms, or their own bluetooth speaker. For more interactive options, Momo’s prepared ‘old but gold’ games like Old Maid, Jenga and UNO.
Picnic at Momo’s comes in two different packages that are perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, dates and any other special occasion.
The “It’s a Date” bundle for 2 pax starts at RM230, which consists of 2 choices of mains (burger/hot dog), 2 choices of sides (fries, wings, spiced popcorn chicken), 2 choices of milkshakes, and a house selection of single desserts to share. The “Fiesta” bundle caters for 4 pax and starts from RM320. It consists of 4 choices of mains, 4 sides, 4 choices of milkshakes and a house selection of double desserts to share.
I decided to go with their Cheeseburger for my main, House Fries for a side and French Vanilla for my milkshake. The cheeseburger looked super sexy and I couldn’t wait to dig in. It looked like a basic burger, but with a thicker beef patty and lots and lots of cheese. Taking one bite, I was transported to cloud nine! The burger was super juicy and very flavourful. You won’t believe it if I said this, but the buns alone were pretty tasty too. I really loved how simple yet delicious this burger was.
Moving on to the fries. They were just regular fries. I was hoping they would be a little crispy, but I guess the AC kinda made them cold. Other than that, they were good. Since there were four of us, we kinda shared our sides. I managed to try the Mild Wings and I absolutely loved them. They were golden, hot and crispy.
For a safer bet, I went with the French Vanilla flavour for my milkshake. They had other flavours like Double Chocolate, Lemon Gula Melaka, Banana Avocado and Mango Coconut – but after a hearty meal, I thought it was best to stick with vanilla. I did, however, try out the Mango Coconut milkshake the last time I visited Momo’s and it was super good, plus refreshing. The French Vanilla is an all white drink served with colourful rice cereal on top. To me, the milkshake tasted like I was having cereal with milk (literally, no joke!), but it was okay though.
Next up, desserts. The part that excited me the most, because they had four different desserts to offer! There was Chocolate Tart, Fruit Tart, Panna Cotta and a slice of Pineapple Cheesecake. Starting off with the chocolate tart: the shell of the tart was perfectly cooked and from the looks of it, I could tell it would be crispy. Turns out I was right! And anything with chocolate never goes wrong. It was sweet and I loved, loved it. To compliment the chocolate tart, there were fresh strawberries on top.
I was really hoping to try the Panna Cotta, but unfortunately, the kitchen had some issues. Skipping to the next dessert, which was the Pineapple Cheesecake: I adore cheesecakes and I prefer them creamy and rich. This one looked like burnt, but it wasn’t. Now, I’m familiar with chocolate cheesecake, durian cheesecake and just plain cheesecake – but cheesecake with pineapple? That should be interesting! I’m not a huge fan of pineapples and I seriously can’t picture pineapple with cheese (eewww!), so my expectations weren’t high for this one. After taking a bite, I thought it wasn’t bad. If you love pineapple then this would be the dessert for you. Pineapples aside, the cheesecake alone was scrumptious.

Overall, the food is great. And if you’re looking for an upgrade, they have a package for that too. Well, the balloons in these picture aren’t really part of the package. But if you want to make your time at Momo’s extra fun, you can get the “Count the Candles” bundle, which is an add-on of RM120 that comprises a 4 inch pineapple cheesecake, triangle banner decor and balloon decor. Additionally, guests can purchase flowers (subject to additional charges) as Momo’s collaboration with May in December offers fresh florals perfect for special occasions.
Picnic at MoMo’s was officially launched on 1 July 2022, with limited rooms available, as each guest room may be booked by a maximum of four people during this time. As a safety measure, Picnic at MoMo’s guests must reserve and pay for their accommodations in advance. Once checked-in, their selected dishes will be delivered to the door by gloved and masked servers within 20 minutes of arrival in the room. So wait no more and head to Momo’s for a fun-filled, yet relaxing picnic sesh with your loved ones!
