We’re about to jump into 2022 and I know some of ya’ll are sitting on the edges of your seats for upcoming movie and TV series releases. Let’s see what big and small screen buffs can expect in 2022…
Movies
Morbius

Marvel is going all out supernatural next year with one of its most anticipated movies, Morbius. It stars Jared Leto as Michael Morbius, a leading scientist searching for a cure to heal a blood disease. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse and he is given vampiric superpowers.
Uncharted

Taking a break from his ground-breaking role as Spider-Man, Tom Holland stars as Nathan Drake in a video game adaptation titled Uncharted. Alongside him is Mark Wahlberg, playing Victor “Sully” Sullivan – and the pair go on a dangerous journey in search of “the greatest treasure never discovered,” as well as follow hints that might lead to Nathan’s long-lost brother.
The Batman
March 4
From a vampire to a crime-fighting bat vigilante, Robert Pattinson is staying true to his Twilight brand. In DC’s upcoming Batman movie, Pattinson will play a younger Bruce Wayne navigating his vigilante ways in Gotham city. Some of his supporting cast will be Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Paul Dano as the Riddler.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
April 15
Although the sequel to the first Fantastic Beasts series was considered an utter disappointment, there are hopes the third instalment will have a sprinkle of that Harry Potter charm. Mads Mikkleson will assume the role of wicked Gellert Grindelwald instead of Johnny Depp, and the remaining actors, such as Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law and Ezra Miller will all reprise their role as their characters.
Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness
May 6
Another highly anticipated Marvel movie that has Marvel fans all over the world barely containing their excitement. Since the release of its teaser trailer in Spider-Man: No Way Home’s end credits, fans have been waiting for updates on the sequel to Doctor Strange – and sure enough, their curiosity has been somewhat sated. In the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, in search of the Time Stone, Stephen Strange – played by Benedict Cumberbatch – unfortunately summons a malevolent entity.
Jurassic World: Dominion
June 10
Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? The new Jurassic movie will re-introduce it’s original cast, including Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm, who will stand alongside current stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who reprise their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively. The movie will depict how humans interact with dinosaurs which have escaped prison and are now allowed to wander the Earth.
Thor: Love & Thunder
July 8
We may finally see a female Thor and I gotta say, I’m pretty ecstatic about it! Natalie Portman will return for Thor’s fourth installment and reprise her role as Jane Foster, who will wield Mjolnir (Thor’s previous hammer) alongside Thor – played by Chris Hemsworth – and becomes The Mighty Thor. Tessa Thompson reprises her role as Valkyrie, while Christian Bale takes on the role of Gorr, the villain. Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, will also appear.
Avatar 2
December 16
The long-awaited sequel to one of the top grossing films of all time, Avatar. Ever since the movie came out in 2009 (I know!), everyone has been eager to know if there is the possibility of a sequel – and 12 years later, we finally get our answer. The film will have an all-star cast which includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, and Giovanni Ribisi. Co-stars include A-listers Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel and our very-own Michelle Yeoh.
