Salma Hayek’s beauty is beyond comparison, both on and off-screen. That’s because she takes on social media often sharing all-natural no-makeup selfie which leaves us beyond words. This time, the actress proudly highlighted her ‘white hairs’ or “the white hair of wisdom” as she calls it in her latest Instagram post
She writes “The white hair of wisdom. Las canas de la sabiduría. Les cheveux blancs de la sagesse.”
Although the highlight was her undyed hair, what caught our attention was how flawless and glowy her skin looked under the natural sun rays. You might expect an arsenal of products as part of her beauty regime, but as it turns out, she keeps it very simple and minimal.
Her logic is as flawless as her complexion. “I never cleanse my skin in the morning. My grandmother taught me that at night, your skin replenishes all the things you lost during the day. Also, if I cleanse very well at night, why would it be dirty when I wake up?” Salma told The New York Times.
So instead, she nourishes her face in the morning with rose water spritz, with is packed with anti-aging benefits. The antioxidants present in rose water gives a much needed boost your skin requires, and it can ward off inflammation.
She then packs on a cocktail of serums to give her skin the exact moisture it requires for the day. Her go-to oil is Nuance and as for serums, she’s a fan of the Biologique Recherche Grand Millésime and Sérum Précieux by Anne Semonin.
Another important step she never misses is removing her makeup well and clear. For this she swears by the powerful coconut oil, which does not removes every bit of makeup residue, but gives her face a good clean up. Additionally, she only exfoliates her skin occasionally. “Exfoliating a lot may make you look good in the short term, but not I think in the long term,” Salma told NYT.
The Mexican-American actress told Harper’s Bazaar that she has not done any touch-ups to her face and it’s all natural. “I still have not done any Botox, fillers, or peels. Nothing. Sometimes I think I should do something, but I don’t know what…I wear makeup sometimes but not to take my kid to school,” she told.
I think we all can get some serious inspiration from her rather simple yet effective beauty regime without having to burn our pockets with high-end skincare products. We’re definitely going to start using coconut oil as makeup remover, that’s for sure!
