It’s finally official! Soon you’ll be hearing a lot more of Jason Mraz on the airwaves and your iPod because his fifth and newest album “LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD” will be out in record stores and online retailers come this April 17th. The album is produced by Joe Chiccarelli, a multiple Grammy award winner who has also had a hand with artists such as The White Stripes, Christina Perri and Young the Giant. When asked to describe the new album, Mraz called it ” Personal, melodic and mellow.”
“There’s a couple of up-tempo tunes, but mostly the rhythm-of-the-heartbeat kind of takes precedence on this record. It feels more like the pace of life. At least, based on my life and what I’ve been doing.” he said in an interview with Billboard.com.
A live acoustic EP titled “LIVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD” which contains four songs, two of which will appear in “LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD” will be released as an early preview for purchase on the 28th of February 2012. The other two are live recordings from Spreckels Theater in San Diego.
Currently available online is the official lyric video but the official music video for “I Won’t Give Up” directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mark Pellington will be premiering today via VH1.com. His song became a huge fan favourite from the first day of release has garnered heaps of praises from celebs such as Rob Thomas, Perez Hilton, Lady Antebellum, Colbie Callait and Ellen DeGeneres on Twitter.

Mraz also announced a photo contest last week in collaboration with CanvasPop where fans were invited to share pictures via Instagram on what “I Won’t Give Up” mean to them and tagging them #IWONTGIVEUP. Unfortunately, only winners from the USA will be selected but you can contribute to the movement too regardless!
Being the philanthropist that he is, Jason Mraz has also set up a foundation fighting for human equality, environment preservation, arts and education, recovery and assistance, simple named after himself.
