The iconic Bratz dolls were regarded the elite of toy dolls of those born circa 1990s and we don’t know about you, but they’re far more superior than Barbies in our books. For starters, the main Bratz clique was made up of 75% ethnic minorities, which accurately reflects the world’s demographics. More importantly, they were sold to be equal and none of them were ever trampling over one another vying for Ken’s attention. We could go on, but you get the point.
Some parents were arguably concerned over their perceived promiscuity (“slutty” OTT makeup and pop culture-inspired style a la The Pussycat Dolls), but as children we never once recognised these things.. And the latest beauty trend sweeping social media as of late just goes to show how much these plastic dolls made an impact in the world. Behold the #Bratzchallenge: A beauty challenge whereby individuals transform themselves into living Brats dolls.
While the official Bratz Instagram account first encouraged beauty-obsessed fans to share their Bratz-inspired makeup, over 50,000 people have now used the challenge hashtag and the results are spectacular to say the least, flooding social media with looks featuring large anime-like eyes, insanely pouty lips, and tiny noses.. all in the name of beauty and good fun. Here are some of the most impressive looks:
