Stay-at-home moms rejoice! Thanks to the newly-appointed Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah, who is also our country’s first ever female Deputy Prime Minister in history, the Malaysian government is finally paying attention to you. retirement scheme
In line with Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto which pledges to fulfil its promises within 100 days — an EPF scheme for housewives will soon be a reality as Wan Azizah is about to discuss the matter with Employees Provident Fund’s CEO Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan.
“I am going to meet EPF’s chief executive officer to further discuss on the possible mechanisms and see how we can implement this. We have to discuss on who are entitled for the scheme and how we are going to distribute it,” remarked Wan Azizah.
“This is because 2% will be from the husband’s salary, while RM50 will be from the government. For Muslims, we also have to look if there are more than one wife involved.” She continued, “Therefore, we have to study on the mechanism as this involve the government’s fund.”
Well, this will certainly benefit those whose well-being have been neglected by their husbands throughout all these years, especially if they are expected to be a super mom but doesn’t get the necessary (monetary) support from their spouse.
Are you loving the new Malaysia? 🙂
