In less than two months, that celebratory time of the year will once again dawn upon us, and from the hectic city to your vibrant hometowns, you’ll soon be spotting vivacious Raya outfits in various iterations.
Granted, planning your own Raya looks can be an overwhelming struggle especially when there are just so many styles, fabrics, and silhouettes to choose from.
That said, we’ve got you covered for Eid with some of these handpicked styles curated from ZALORA’s endless smashing Raya offerings. Let us know which ones fit your fancy!
1. Kebaya
The classic kebaya does no one wrong. From household names such as Rizalman and Syomirizwa Gupta to (relatively) newcomers like Afiq M and Lubna, these designers’ take on the traditional kebaya is absolutely refreshing, yet still modest and aesthetically pleasing. We’re adoring the eccentric prints especially!
Writer’s Wishlist: Afiq M – TUTI Drape Pelikat Kebaya
2. Cardigan
Not feeling the conventional baju kurung or kebaya two days in a row? Opt for a long cardigan instead. These flowy garments are ultra comfortable and extremely versatile. You can wear them over any clothing, or secure them all the way up to turn them into an abaya should they come with buttons or ties.
Writer’s Wishlist: Khanaan – Abaya Naira
3. Kaftan
Kaftan dresses extend a relaxed beach resort vibe, and are unfailingly flattering on any body shape. It’s also lightweight and breathable, which just so happens to be the ideal piece to easily transition between a long day of taking photos with friends and family to an evening of indulging in a sinful Raya feast – especially in the unforgiving Malaysian heat.
Writer’s Wishlist: Alia B – Charlene Lace Kaftan
4. Wide sleeves
From romantic to a little more risqué, make a statement and step up your Raya look with wide sleeves for a boss babe edge. Go extreme with tiered ruffled sleeves, keep it simple with demure blouson sleeves, or opt for the classic flare for an amplified silhouette.
Writer’s Wishlist: Tom Abang Saufi – Wide Sleeves with Mermaid Skirt
5. Dreamy dresses
It’s 2018, and thankfully, the world is limitless as far as the fashion industry is concerned. Add some charm to your Raya looks by spotlighting unique fabrics such as tulle and organza, distinct embellishments or opt for delicate hues of pink or soft ivory for a dress with a touch of magic.
Writer’s Wishlist: Lubna – Organza Puff Sleeves Kurung
6. Kimono
The kimono trend is still alive and kicking, and this year’s additions have gotten rather exciting as many of the designs have been given an origami inspired update with bold lines and folds. Aesthetically stunning and simultaneously enchanting, the graceful kimono is one that never disappoints in our books.
Writer’s Wishlist: Jovian Mandagie – Eshiko Modern Kimono Kurung
7. Cascading fabric
Fresh off the 2018 runway, this imaginative Raya style involves the integration of extra fabric which cascades with every move, whether it be in the form of a sash, sleeve or drape. DO not be afraid to experiment. After all, Raya only happens once a year and being that much more extra isn’t going to hurt nobody.
Writer’s Wishlist: Ezzati Amira – Lace Top With Tied Up Skirt
