The art of delighting in afternoon tea that is steeped in British history will always be a little bit of a lavish indulgence and luckily, our options are aplenty. Realistically speaking though, there are only so many fancy sandwich fingers and freshly baked scones one will be able to enjoy, and most afternoon tea offerings lack variety.
If you’re looking for a completely distinct afternoon tea experience, look no further than Newens Tea House’s A Journey Through Tea series. Every month in 2018 will bring forth a brand new afternoon tea pairing inspired by tea cultures from around the world, presenting sweets and savouries unique to each country.
Newens’ A Journey Through Tea kicks off with the Traditional English High Tea, Spring in China Tea and Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea for the first three months, and while you would still get your classic English favourites like scones and sandwich fingers on tiers in January, Oriental-themed February unveils traditional Chinese dumplings and pastries.
In conjunction with the season of cherry blossom in Japan, March then sees Newens’ Japanese-inspired tea with sakura-themed mini cakes, California hand rolls, salmon sashimi and more, served alongside the month’s Wild Cherry Tea. Whether you’re in for a light bite in the afternoon or a graceful bachelorette party, Newens could very well be your place to be.
The thematic tea experiences by Newens Tea House are available throughout the year from 2.30pm to 5.30pm at RM150 nett per set. Contact Newens Tea House at +603-27198550 or newens@ytlhotels.com.my for more details and reservations.
