Do you guys still remember the patriotic “Negarakuku” song that Malaysian star Namewee released 10 years ago which had gotten him into a whole lot of trouble? (The word kuku resembles the male reproductive organ in Chinese Hokkien dialect).
Who can forget right? Well now, the talented controversial singer has released a brand new cross-cultural song titled “Tokyo Bon 2020 (Makudoraudo)” which he collaborated with Cool Japan TV, and we’re sure that this song will definitely not get him into trouble – at least, we hope not!
Now, Namewee needs your help to earn a place in the Guiness Book of World Records by having the most people simultaneously dance to his latest music video which features famed Japanese actress Meu Ninomiya as well as a number of social media influencers.
The video highlights a foreigner’s impression on Japanglish: English words that have been co-opted into Japanese vernacular. One of the most famous words is “Makudonarudo”, which actually means “McDonald’s”.
The idea of the dance is for all to get hand in hand. I hope everyone across the world, regardless of country, colour, culture or language, can join hands to take part in this dance,” Namewee wrote.
