Based on E.T.A Hoffmann’s classic fairytale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker, Disney recently released the first glimpse into the live-action adaptation of The Nutcracker and The Four Realms.
The legend you once knew gets a dark twist in the remake as the trailer unveils an enchantingly dark parallel world of the ever-so-familiar fantasy. Starring Mackenzie Foy who played Renesmee Cullen in the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as Clara and Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy, the movie follows Clara on an magical adventure amidst the four realms.
In search of a mysterious key to unlock a priceless gift from her late mother, Clara was presented with a golden thread from her godfather, Drosselmeyer played by Morgan Freeman on Christmas Eve. Following a dark and mysterious path led by the golden thread, Clara soon finds herself out of her family’s annual holiday party and into a parallel world.
There in the magical land that holds four realms: Land of Flowers, Land of Snowflakes, Land of Sweets and the land ruled by the malicious Mother Ginger, Clara goes on a quest with Phillip the soldier to defeat Mother Ginger, find her key and restore peace to the realms.
Featuring renowned ballerina Misty Copeland as one of the lead dancers in the film, the movie remake written by Ashley Powell was first announced in March 2016.
Set to hit the big screens on Nov 2, The Nutcracker and The Four Realms will be one of Disney’s 2018 live-action remake along with other Disney classics – Aladdin, Mulan, The Lion King and Dumbo. We’re so ready for 2018!
